Introducing TyePad Mobile

Typepad has introduced TypePad Mobile:

Today we’re excited to announce the release of TypePad Mobile, a free application for your Palm, Windows Mobile or Symbian Series 60 smartphone that lets you post photos and entries to your TypePad blogs and photo albums with just a few clicks. It’s just the latest step in our goal to support blogging from wherever, whenever.

TypePad Mobile comes from Six Apart’s acquisition of SplashBlog. The Splash team has years of experience developing easy to use mobile applications, and we’re excited to have them be delivering smartphone applications designed specifically to work with TypePad.

If you have a TypePad blog and a smartphone that runs Palm OS 5, Windows Mobile 5, or Symbian Series 60, check out screenshots and download the application that fits your phone. Or visit http://get.typepad.com/from your smartphone to install it directly to your device. If you’re curious, you can also read the TypePad Mobile User Guide in our (freshly redesigned) Knowledge Base.

Typepad Podcast

I missed it at the time but the Typepad podcasts have started:

Last week we moderated a SkypeCast with Chris Anderson, editor in chief of Wired Magazine, and author of the best-selling book, The Long Tail. If you missed the SkypeCast, you can listen to our conversation here, in our inaugural TypePad podcast.

The podcast itself weighs in at 18 mb and is available via Everything Typepad

Typepad developments

Typepad have made some changes to make life easier for users and potential users:

New Public Website:

First, we launched a fairly significant overhaul to the public face of the TypePad website. One of the things we learned in reviewing visitor feedback, site traffic patterns and our customer research was that our old site wasn’t doing a good enough job explaining blogging to the uninitiated. With the redesign, the site’s more focused on explaining why you need a blog, and the benefits of blogging on TypePad.

The new "Home" tab

the new "Home" tab inside TypePad. We’ve revamped the application’s home page to give you quick access to your blogs, your photo albums and your TypeLists, as well as easy ways to keep up on the news at Everything TypePad, our Featured Blogs and Widgets. We also hope you find the rotating selection of Tips helpful. Keep your eye on it; you might just learn something new.

Technorati Tagging

Finally, we threw another "most wanted" feature into the release as well. You can now easily add Technorati Tags to your blog posts. While Technorati has always treated TypePad’s categories as tags in their tag search, you can now go beyond categories and add additional labels to your post
