Bill Flitter has posted the first of a three part series about RSS Advertising and Marketing to Revenews. In the first installement Bill discusses Advertising:
Advertising in RSS feeds offers advertisers several advantages over other forms of online and offline advertising. For example, RSS feed advertising is very targeted, relatively low-cost and can yield higher click-through rates than many other forms of online advertising. But, to achieve these results, certain strategies and best practices need to be followed to help advertisers optimize RSS ad campaigns.

Brian Clark of Copyblogger has published a great article on maximising pay per click advertising that works:
The goal of pay per click advertising is to get in front of searchers who are looking specifically for what you have to offer. This takes careful keyword research, strategic bidding, and compelling ad copy just to get the click.
The problem is, that’s where most people stop.
They make the mistake of sending that targeted traffic to the home page of their website or blog. Even worse, they make no attempt to establish a relationship with those that don’t buy, so as to boost conversion rates for every dollar spent.
Brian goes on to talk about specific design teachniques and the advantages of landing pages. For the full story visit copyblogger.

More celebrations of anniversaries, this time Jim Kukral celebrates his first year at the helm of ReveNews by missing it by five days. Jim makes amends by looking back at what he has achieved in that first year based on the promises he made in his first post. Other achievements include:
In June 2005 we averaged just under 150k page views, by December of that same year, the count was up to 205k. And May 2006 was our best month ever, coming in at just under a half a million page views, and still growing.
Page views aside, and the fact that the site can actually pay for its hosting bills now, I’m proud of where ReveNews is today, and look forward to writing another entry like this in June 2007
Head over to ReveNews and wish Jim all the best.
