What Blogging is Buying Bloggers

Darren at Problogger has compiled a list of What Blogging is Buying Bloggers. Its interesting to see what blogging is doing for people and the list includes big things including Companies and a child’s College education to little thing like a latte. There is trips to meet a hero and more time with the kids. Its an impressive list.

For the record I’m there. Right now blogging is paying for my web hosting, my Valleyschwag subscription and a domain name renewal. This month has so far been a good month and when the payments start coming next month I’ll be leaving some in the bank for future investments.

So what has blogging bought you? Whats it going to buy you ?

Blog Republic has continued their excellent Earn Money Blogging Series, this time covering the basics of founding a money making blog:

I’m sure you can reach this revenue level even faster, if you avoid some of the mistakes I made. If you tweak your Adsense ad configuration, you may be able to earn even more.

10 Step Plan to a Profitable Blog

Tags: , ,

Chris Garrett has shared some tips on producing a profitable blog with some useful common sense approaches.

1. Select a list of profitable niches and choose a niche with the most potential
2. Find all the products and services your blog can sell through affiliate channels
3. Discover the high-paying adsense phrases and focus your content around them
4. Build a template that emphasises your adsense and affiliate products
5. Build loyal RSS and email subscriptions
6. Build authority and trust through regular useful content. Post at least one new article every day, more if you can manage it
7. Generate traffic through good post titles, email subject lines and linkbait
8. Monitor your metrics, see which content brings in the most traffic and clicks and produce more of it
9. When you hit on a good conversion rate, pay for advertising
10. Diversify, start more blogs. Find an overlapping niche, rinse and repeat

However what i really enjoyed was Chris highlighting what are my own thoughts on why i am blogging, not to be rich or to blog full time but enough money “to pay for your time and buy you some toys, help pay off loans or assist with the mortage.

More Celebrations. Jim Kukral celebrates a year at ReveNews

Tags: , , ,

More celebrations of anniversaries, this time Jim Kukral celebrates his first year at the helm of ReveNews by missing it by five days. Jim makes amends by looking back at what he has achieved in that first year based on the promises he made in his first post. Other achievements include:

In June 2005 we averaged just under 150k page views, by December of that same year, the count was up to 205k. And May 2006 was our best month ever, coming in at just under a half a million page views, and still growing.

Page views aside, and the fact that the site can actually pay for its hosting bills now, I’m proud of where ReveNews is today, and look forward to writing another entry like this in June 2007

Head over to ReveNews and wish Jim all the best.

Celebrations are in order for Michael Arrington’s TechCrunch has turned one year old. For aspiring professional bloggers the post provides some staggering statistics of the growth of the blog:

For people interested in statistics, here they are. This will be the 884th post on TechCrunch, and 23,713 comments have been left on those posts. Hundreds of companies and products have been featured here over the last year. Traffic and RSS subscribers continue to grow - there are around 65,000 RSS and email subscribers based on my Feedburner count, and TechCrunch serves 2-3 million page views per month. TechCrunch is now my full time job, and then some.
